11:15 am - Character Profile: Sha're

First appearance: Stargate The Movie   Last appearance: S3 Forever in a Day

Bio:

Career: Sha’re was the daughter of the Abydonian leader, Kasuf. She led her people in a rebellion against Ra after being married to Daniel Jackson (Stargate The Movie). Sha’re died saving Daniel but was resurrected by the sarcophagus.

She was captured by Apophis and made host to the Goa’uld, Ammonet (S1 Children of the Gods). She bore a Harcesis child by Apophis, returning to her normal self during the pregnancy as Ammonet went dormant to ensure the pregnancy went to term (S2 Secrets).

Sha’re felt maternal towards her child and gave Daniel Jackson a message on the boy’s location as part of her final act in sending Daniel a vision. She was killed by Teal’c who had to save Daniel from Ammonet (S3 Forever in a Day).

Family: Her father Kasuf and brother Skaara are now Ascended beings following the destruction of Abydos by Anubis. Her son, Shifu, also lives out his life as an Ascended being.

Female Friendships: Unknown.

Romantic Others: Although given to him in marriage when her father believed Daniel was Ra, Sha’re was very much in love with her new husband. She gave him a goodbye kiss to remember when he went to show Jack and Sam the room of gate addresses he’d found. Sha’re never stopped believing in Daniel and entrusted the safety of her son to him on her death to give Daniel a purpose and a way to continue.

AU/Other Versions: n/a

Regarding AUs, there is an outtake from Ripple Effect in which one of the Daniels mentions that he and his wife were fighting a Prior on her home planet of Abydos.

The statement in the profile that Sha’re felt maternal towards her child and risked her life to give Daniel Jackson a message on the boy’s location is a bit misleading. While she certainly seems to care about her child, her primary motive is apparently to Daniel a purpose and a mission after her death. She didn't risk her life to pass on the message; she was going to be killed by Teal'c in the next few seconds in any case. But she did choose to use those last precious moments of communication to pass on the message about Shifu rather than anything else.

Er, sorry. Kinda Sha're-obsessed here. :)

Some meta: Sha'uri in the movie and Sha're in the series.

Great meta and I don't think anyone can be too Sha're obsessed. :D

I've revised the entry so let me know what you think. Does it read a bit better? :)

Yes, that's more accurate. I'd personally emphasize her heroism in that last vision, but eh - Sha're obsessed. ;) Thanks!
