First appearance: S8 The Lost City Last appearance: S5 SGA Ghost in the Machine*
Career: Elizabeth Weir was a skilled diplomat and expert in international relations, speaking numerous languages including Ancient. She assisted in the formation of many international treaties before being appointed the civilian Head of Stargate Command by President Henry Hayes (S7 The Lost City). Although initially sceptical of the military given her personal views, Elizabeth supported SG1 over the protests of Kinsey enabling Earth to be saved from Anubis. Elizabeth left the SGC to head the Antarctic Research team (S8 New Order).
On discovering the address to Atlantis, Elizabeth became the Head of the Atlantis expedition (S1 SGA Rising). She led the Atlantis team for the next three years with a period of leave when the Ancients reclaimed the city (S3 SGA The Return) when she considered writing her memoirs but seemed to be suffering depression. She received significant scrutiny of her decisions (S3 SGA No Man’s Land/Misbegotten), eventually coming to feel that she was not respected and would potentially have to resign her position (S3 SGA First Strike).
However, before that happened, Elizabeth was fatally injured (S4 SGA Adrift) and only saved by the use of experimental nanites. She used her new abilities to facilitate an incursion into the Replicators’ home-world and sacrificed her own safety to ensure the return of her team (S4 SGA Lifeline).
Declared MIA, Elizabeth was thought to have died when her clone was told as much by the Replicators (S4 SGA This Mortal Coil) but it was revealed she had survived, leading a group of Replicators who sought Ascension (S5 SGA Ghost in the Machine). Her efforts led her back to Atlantis where she once again sacrificed her life for the safety of the city.
*However, there remains some question over whether the final Elizabeth seen was actually the real Elizabeth Weir or another Repli-version of her.
Family: Elizabeth was survived by her mother but her father had died and passed on his pocket watch to her. She had a dog back on Earth (S3 SGA The Real World). Romantic Others: Elizabeth was involved with Simon Wallace (S1 SGA Rising) but he moved on with his life in her absence and they officially broke up (S2 SGA The Intruder). She enjoyed a lunch date with Doctor Branton but found it difficult, claiming as the leader of Atlantis she couldn’t form personal relationships with anyone in the expedition.
Female Friendships: Elizabeth was friends with Teyla and came to confide in the other woman as a fellow leader (S3 SGA First Strike). It is also likely that Doctor Kate Heightmeyer may have been a confidante.
She was also shown to care for John Sheppard very much (S2 SGA The Siege, Conversion) although it is unknown whether these feelings were romantic or differed from the friendship love and camaraderie she expressed to others such as Rodney McKay (S3 SGA The Tao of Rodney).
Other Significant Events: Elizabeth met an alternate timeline version of herself (S1 SGA Before I Sleep) who in escaping the destruction of Atlantis when the expedition team first arrived, sacrificed herself by remaining in stasis over thousands of years to reserve power enabling the city to rise from the ocean floor when the expedition team arrived in the new timeline.
Elizabeth also faced a personal challenge when infected with nanites, having to fight a reality created in her head by them to save herself (S3 SGA The Real World).
AU/Other Versions: Doctor Elizabeth Weir (S1 SGA Before I Sleep), Doctor Elizabeth Weir RepliClone (S4 SGA This Mortal Coil)
